Bore polishing

The progressive smoothing of a cylinder liner's running surface until it develops a polished or mirror-like appearance. Hard piston deposits or abnormal contact can remove the surface texture and oil-retaining features, weakening the lubricant film and increasing the risk of wear, blow-by and scuffing.
