Goods and services tax (GST)

A broad consumption tax used in many jurisdictions and operating on value-added principles similar to VAT. Businesses generally charge GST on taxable sales and claim credits for eligible tax paid on inputs, while rates, registration, exemptions and marine-supply treatment are determined by local law.
