Toxicity

The inherent capacity of a substance or mixture to cause adverse effects in humans or other organisms. Toxicity depends on factors including dose or concentration, route and duration of exposure, species and endpoint and may be acute or chronic; actual risk also depends on the likelihood and extent of exposure.
