Apparent viscosity (of a grease)

The effective viscosity of a grease at a stated temperature and shear rate, expressed as the ratio of shear stress to shear rate under the test conditions. Because grease is generally non-Newtonian, its apparent viscosity changes with shear rate and may depend on shear history; the property is useful when assessing pressure loss and dispensing behaviour.
